School Year Wrap Up

Since it's the end of the school year this week I should update the blog. As you know, Spring is always crazy here.

Valynn enjoyed Scholastic bowl, as a 6th grader she didn't get to participate in Sectionals but she looks forward to doing it again next year. She got a red ribbon in her flute ensemble. Valynn also enjoyed track. She started out the year running the 1600m and had a PR of 6:17. She ran the 800m in 2:30, and the 400m in 1:20. At the Conference track meet she got 8th place in the 1600m (this is a meet between local Peoria County schools). Aunt Bonnie came to watch Valynn run Sectionals in Kewanee, she place first which qualified her for state. The following week she was at state in East Peoria which is where she ran her best time of the year. She has had a good 6th grade year. Valynn also finished her volleyball season this past Saturday. She greatly improved her skills.

Mason had two soccer tournaments this Spring. The first tournament he ended up playing for his old team, they didn't have a very good tournament. This weekend he played with his new team and they placed second. Mason scored two goals. He also had fun playing up in Wyoming where he scored multiple goals. Mason had a good 4th grade year.

Kyra had fun playing soccer in Wyoming. She scored a goal in the last game. She will be starting softball games soon. Kyra had a fun 1st grade year.

Kyleigh played soccer in Wyoming as well and she scored a handful of goals. She finished her last year of preschool. After 9 years in a row of attending St. Edward and seeing Ms. Angie, it will be sad to not be going back next year. She had her Kindergarten Screening and is ready to start in the fall. Kyleigh will be starting teeball soon.

In March the kids and I went to Arizona to visit Grandma and Grandpa Larson. We had a great time swimming, golfing, going to the Science museum, and the zoo.

Grandma and Grandpa Larson came to visit in April. They got to see the chaos that is our lives during the Spring, but they got to see all the kids play all their sports so it was a good weekend.

We enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend. Last night we camped in our back yard. It was truly a family affair as Addie joined us in the tent and at 5:00 in the morning, switched places with Lucky. We had some friends over to lunch and then spent the rest of the day being lazy.

I am happy to report that the basement bathroom is DONE!!!!! It was a long process to do all the tiling, but I love how it turned out. I will post pictures soon.

On the 17th of May the whole family participated in the Troutman Park run. Mark, Kyra, and Kyleigh did the mile run. Valynn, Mason, and I did the 5k. Valynn was first women and 4th overall. Mason was the first male 14U and 3rd overall. Their time was around 22 minutes. I ran with Kyra her first 800m, I then ran with Kyleigh her last 800m before running the last two miles on my own. We had fun and plan to do it again as a family at the Heritage Days in a couple of weeks.
