19 months!

Officially Kyleigh turns 19 months tomorrow but she had her 18 month check up today (the doctor was gone due to surgery so her appointment was pushed back a month). Here are her stats weight 21# 4 oz (10%), height 31" (31%). The doctor is concerned about her lack of speech. She knows about 7 words but uses them sparingly and she doesn't mimic words she hears. Because she understands commands and turns her head towards sounds we know that hearing is not the issue. We have decided to give her 5 more months to start saying a more words or we'll get a referral to Easter Seals with a Speech Therapist. If at anytime Mark and I get more concerned he will refer us before then. He also double checked her motor skills and fine motor skills to make sure there weren't any issues that we might be missing but she passed that area with flying colors. She uses a fork or spoon at every meal, rarely her fingers (she's ahead of Kyra in this area as Kyra still prefers to use her fingers, but gets in trouble). Kyleigh is also drinking out of a regular cup at meal time. She will throw a tantrum is you give her a sippy cup. Kyleigh as always was a charmer at the doctors office and there was also lots of praise for her not being there since her last well child visit. It was this time last year we were making almost weekly or monthly trips to the office.

Valynn and Mason had their Easter Parties today. They went good, we hid almost 400 eggs between the two classes today. That means I did a lot of egg stuffing this week, that also means I have a lot of eggs that I store in the basement. I have now finished my duties as head room mom for all three kids for the year. Kyra is disappointed that she is going to miss her Easter Party next week but the teacher told her she would save some eggs for Kyra.

Kyra's Spring Break is different from Valynn and Mason's this year. On Sunday we have our first soccer games and once the games are over we are going to head up to North Dakota. See everyone in a few days.

Heritage Days

It is Heritage Days in Princeville. The Budweiser Clydesdales were in town for the celebration so we went up to see them with the neighbor. The kid absolutely loved them, they were huge. Mark had a work supper so he couldn't join us until later. Here is a picture of all six kids in front of one of the semis that brought the horses. There were three semis. After the horses we got something to eat and then went to the carnival. Valynn and Mason had a great time on the rides. They did the Merry-Go- Round, the Big slide, the roller coaster, and the monkey house. Then Mark joined us and they wanted to ride the octopus. They thought it was great and went a second time. Kyra wouldn't do anything but watch. Today we're headed back for the parade and maybe the kids' games, we'll see.

Valentine's Party

Valynn hosted a Valentine's Party yesterday. The kids had fun decorating cookies, playing relay races, and finding the hidden Valentine's. They also were served cake that dad had to decorate. It was a busy weekend we finally got our family pictures taken on Saturday. Valynn had a Daisy Scout outing at Jump Start Gymnastics on Saturday as well. On Sunday we went to church and had Valynn's party. We've started to work on her Valentine's Box and hope to have that done tonight. Valynn, Mason, and Kyra are excited to share that they will have a baby brother or sister at the end of August!!

Recap from yesterday

Valynn had a great first day of school. She was ready to go back today. Today she will be in school longer, although they get out at 2:15 because of the heat. Kyra had a good birthday. She learned a couple of new tricks. She took Mason's booster seat off of his chair and then stood on it to get unto a kitchen chair. She also learned to take off her diaper. I also forgot to mention that it was our anniversary on Sunday, we celebrated 7 years, it's hard to believe how fast time goes and where we are 7 years later. I included a picture of Mason sleeping in his pillow case, he was feeling a little left out yesterday.

A day of firsts!

It's an emotional day here for mom and dad. Valynn had her first day of kindergarten. She rode the bus to school, I then met her there and walked her to her classroom. I didn't cry but was close quite a few times, I waited until I got home to do that. Today is also Kyra's first birthday. We no longer have a baby in the house. We will be having her party on Friday and tonight it will just be the family to help her celebrate. HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY KYRA AND HAVE A GREAT YEAR AT SCHOOL VALYNN.

What a great weekend

We had a nice relaxing weekend. For once there was nothing that needed to be done. Friday night we had friends over for supper, after supper we all went fishing. Everyone was catching fish. Valynn laid her pole down and as she walked away a fish pulled her pole into the lake. The bobber came up so we borrowed a boat from the neighbor and Mark rowed out to the bobber and pulled in her rod. We all were laughing except for Valynn. On Saturday we went to town to get water and watered the garden. We then went to Jubilee State Park and hiked for about 3 hours and had a picnic lunch. We came home and the kids went swimming at the neighbors and then we went to town for supper and grocery shopping. On Sunday we went to church, got some donuts on the way home and ate them. In the afternoon we helped set up for the block party and then relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. We met some more neighbors, and visited until the evening. The kids played well together and had a blast.
