July 12th-13th, we flew out of Minneapolis, had a 6 hour lay over in Amesterdam, before arriving in Stockholm. Once in Stockholm we took a train from the airport to downtown where we walked 6 blocks to our hotel. After arriving in our hotel we went for a walk around the area and had supper at a fish restaurant.
July 14th- we visited the Vasa Museum (old war ship that sank and was recovered), Skansen (Swedish Folk Museum/ zoo), and Gamle Stan (old Stockholm). This was a very busy day with lots of walking. We spent about 3 hours at the Vasa, another 3 hours at the Skansen, so by the time we got to Gamle Stan, almost everything was closed.
July 15th- we went on a boat tour around Stockholm before catching the train to Olso. We got into Oslo about 9:30, walked down Johan Gate, had a couple of beers and went to the hotel. Our hotel was right across the street from the train station, so a nice short walk.
July 16th- we walked around the Palace Gardens, looked at some wood carved pictures at City Hall, Toured the Akerhus, and Resistance museum before calling it an early day because we had to make the subway to have supper with a Norwegian family Merete and her parents and kids. We know Jan-Erik but he was out of town. We had a wonderful meal of salmon and potatoes.
July 17th- we went to the Viking Ship museum and to the Folk Museum, then to the Vigland Sculpture park. Mark took pictures at the Viking museum so I'll have to post some of those later.
July 18th- we took the train from Oslo to Geilo a ski resort town. The 19th we then took the train to Myrdal, another train called the Flam to Flam. Then a boat ride through the fjords. Bus to Voss, and then a train to Bergen. Lost of things to see, mostly nature and waterfalls.
July 20th-22nd we spent in Bergen. We took the Tram to the top of the mountain. Toured the old fortress, walked through the old buildings, and ate supper on the wharf. What a great end to a wonderful trip. We had so much fun and the scenery was breathtaking.
