Backing up to the end of April. Grandma and Grandpa Larson came down for the week to visit and watch the kids play their sports. The kids enjoyed having their Grandparents watching them. Our spring schedule was so hectic we only had supper as a family Friday nights. Kyra and Kyleigh's soccer ended the first week of May. Kyra had a great soccer season and scored quite a few goals. Kyleigh did good for her first year, her biggest downfall was her attention span. Valynn's volleyball ended the middle of May. She had a great season and started serving further back, she got better at returning serves, volleying, and being more aggressive. May 18th Valynn and mom did a 5k together in Princeville. Valynn cut a minute off of her time from last year. Mason's soccer team won the championship in their second tournament of the year May 18th and 19th. On the 19th the kids participated in the Sunday School program "The two by two zoo cruise". The kids did great and even Kyleigh had a speaking part. Right after the program we took off so Mason could make it to play in the Championship game. His soccer ended Memorial Day weekend. The last day of soccer he scored a goal in both games (his first with the travel team). He played every minute of all three games that weekend (they were short players so there was only one sub). Mom and dad were troopers, we stood in the 50 degree pouring down rain, soaking wet, to watch him score his first goal. Valynn watched Kyra and Kyleigh at home for us so they didn't have to be in the cold.
The kids got done with school May 24th. Mom still has three days left. The kids have done well with a sitter and helping around the house. They are looking forward to having mom home again. The babysitter's mom has taken them to the Children's Museum and to Kartville to help break up the monotony. This week mom has a shortened schedule so she'll be home half of the day.
Next weekend we are leaving for South Dakota for a week in the Black Hills. We will be camping the first three days (in a tent, wish us luck), before meeting the rest of the Larson's at a cabin.
Mark has been busy getting the kids set up for fun. He made a volleyball net that can be changed into a soccer goal. This weekend he also started adding an addition onto the playset. The kids have spent time tenting outside, mom and dad even spent a night out with them. They have also slept on the playset.
